<p>For those of you looking to lose belly fat, it&#8217;s important that you have the right information in order to achieve your goals. If you&#8217;ve been doing countless sets of crunches, leg raises, or any other direct abdominal work in attempt to lose that spare tire, then you have the wrong information.</p>
<p>In this article,<span id="more-410"></span> I am going to show you why it&#8217;s impossible to lose belly fat no matter how many crunches or leg raises you do, and I&#8217;m going to reveal the right way to go about it.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s really quite elementary, or so it would seem. If you want to lose belly fat, then you obviously have to work your abdominals. That&#8217;s what you&#8217;ve been told, so you go and hit the abs from all angles.</p>
<p>You do crunches for the upper abs, hanging<br />

 leg raises for the lower abs, side crunches for the obliques. That should help you lose belly fat, right?</p>
<p>Wrong!</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll never lose belly fat by doing all of that abs work. Sure, you&#8217;re going to have strong abdominal muscles. You might even have a six pack, but you&#8217;re never going to see it until you lose that roll of fat covering them up.</p>
<p>The reason that you will never lose belly fat that way is that you just can&#8217;t spot reduce. By spot reduction, I mean that you&#8217;re only losing fat in one area of the body. </p>
<p>It is therefore impossible to lose belly fat, and then not lose fat throughout the rest of your body.</p>
<p>In order to lose belly fat, you have to have a total fat loss plan. Fat won&#8217;t just disappear from your abdominal region simply because you&#8217;re doing every imaginable abs exercise. That&#8217;s not the way it works.</p>
<p>Fat loss occurs in the body as a whole. That means that if you want to lose belly fat, you have to have a fat loss strategy that burns fat throughout your body.</p>
<p>To lose belly fat, you have to change your workout focus away from direct ab work, and instead start doing the types of exercises that really burn fat. That&#8217;s heavy, compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, presses and rows. These exercises work most of the muscles of the body, along with their stabilizers. This, in turn, helps to release the hormones responsible for muscle gain, and fat loss. You can&#8217;t get that from crunches, or leg raises, and definitely not from side bends. </p>
<p>You also have to do cardio, but not in the way you&#8217;ve been taught. To lose belly fat, you have to do high intensity cardio. That low intensity stuff won&#8217;t produce a hormonal response the way high intensity, interval cardio does. </p>
<p>Simply put, high intensity cardio releases fat burning hormones, and revs up the metabolism in a way that slow, steady state, and long duration cardio never will.</p>
<p>Aside from heavy compound exercises and high intensity cardio, if you&#8217;re serious about losing belly fat you must also eat a healthy and well balanced diet to really lose that belly fat.</p>
<p>By healthy and well balanced I mean a diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean meats such as chicken and fish, nuts (unsalted), and whole grains. Notice I didn&#8217;t mention anywhere that you must starve yourself. That&#8217;s not the way to lose belly fat, and it&#8217;s definitely not the way fat loss works.</p>
<p>If you starve yourself, or deprive your body of any of the macronutrients (i.e. proteins, fats, carbohydrates), you won&#8217;t lose belly fat. Instead, you&#8217;ll end up messing with your metabolism. Essentially, you&#8217;ll end up slowing down your metabolism and stopping your fat loss before it even starts.</p>
<p>So, to really lose belly fat, you can&#8217;t try to spot reduce it away. Spot reduction does not work. Instead, you must focus on fat loss in the body as a whole. You have to include compound exercises, and high intensity cardio. And, you absolutely must include a healthy and balanced diet.</p>

<p>Get A Great Ab Workout With An Ab Bench</p>
<p>In order to get the most out of your ab bench, you&#8217;ll want to take advantage of its adjustability. Not only can it be altered to fit your specific body type, but the angle at which you work your abs, as well. Using an ab board can be fun, but this adjustability will also make it more effective.</p>
<p>Before you hop on your bench, you&#8217;ll want to make sure that you&#8217;re warmed up. To prevent injury, it&#8217;s best to do this. Start by doing a light jog or some other easy cardio work that will get the blood flowing. After about 5-10 minutes, then do some light stretching. <p>Six Pack Abs: A Three Step Guide For Developing Six Pack Abs</p>
<p>For most people, getting six pack abs is not an easy task. It requires discipline and a commitment to transform your lifestyle. Below is a general 3-step guide that, if followed consistently for 3 months, will produce noticeable results. </p>
<p>Step 1: Recruit Social Support</p>
<p>With any fitness goal,<span id="more-405"></span> social support is the #1 factor for success. It is a proven fact that you have a greater chance of sticking with an exercise program when you have to be accountable to someone. This can be a professional, like a personal trainer or lifestyle coach. Or you can simply recruit your spouse, brother, sister, friend, neighbor or co-worker. Find whomever you ne</p>
<p>Step 2: Eat Balanced, Healthy Meals</p>
<p>If your abs are covered with a layer of fat, you won&#8217;t see them, no matter what you do! So the second step in developing six pack abs is to take a look at what you are eating. If belly fat is hiding your abs, you need to focus on eliminating high-calorie, nutrient-poor foods. This inlcudes products containing added sugars, saturated fats and alcohol. Some examples are white bread, loads of pasta, soda, candy, fast food, hydrogenated oils, sugars and fructose corn syrup.</p>
<p>To jumpstart your metabolism and burn fat, start eating 5-6 meals a day. Eat plenty of nutrient-dense foods that will help you reach your goal like oatmeal, olive oil, whole grain breads, fruits, vegetables, nuts, eggs, natural peanut butter, chicken, fish, protein and water. Stick to balanced-healthy eating six days a week. On the seventh day, eat whatever you want. This way, you&#8217;ll resist the temptation to &#8220;cheat&#8221; on a regular basis. Remember, if you don&#8217;t improve your eating habits, getting a six pack will be impossible.</p>
<p>Step 3: Exercise</p>
<p>With nutrition guidelines in place, it&#8217;s now time to focus on exercise. In particular, you will need to incorporate cardio, weightlifting and ab exercises into an exercise regimen 3- 4 times a week.</p>

Aim for 30-45 minutes, a minimum of 2 times a week. Focus on core exercises such as squats, lunges, deadlifts, step-ups, swings and snatches.</p>
<p>Lastly, you need to incorporate ab-specific exercises into your workout. Aim to work your abs a minimum of 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes. Reverse crunches, hanging leg raises, and plank holds are a good place to start.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s important to mix up your workout routine every 4 weeks or so to keep your body guessing and changing. Add or take away different weight or ab exercises. At the very least, vary the weight, reps or form of cardio you do.</p>

<p>How To Design An Insane Abs Work Out</p>
<p>Summer is here and now is the time to design an abs work out. Many people visit their local gym to exercise those abdominal muscles for the six pack look.</p>
<p>The beach is where exciting things happen and walking along the shore with a dynamite six pack is all that is needed.</p>
<p>Unfortunately all those crunches you have been doing in the spring will not translate to a six pack in the summer. Why? Because you did not design your six pack abs work out program.</p>
<p>How do you do this you ask?</p>
<p>By breaking up your ab training into three separate days and doing this by crunches, hip raises and rotation.</p>
<p>Many people use these three exercises in the same workout. Don&#8217;t do this because you cannot target a sp<br />

ecific area and you want to be able to maximize your ab training fully with each workout session.</p>
<p>For instance, you will want to do the crunch variation in one workout so that you tire those muscle fibers fully.</p>
<p>To target your lower abs, hip dominant movements like reverse crunches work the lower portion of your abdomen. Rotation movements like cable chops and Russian twists work the obliques more and you shouldn&#8217;t leave these exercise routines out.</p>
<p>Doing a lot of repetitive abs work out just plain doesn&#8217;t work.</p>
<p>Train with less repetition and more sets at certain times. This exercise routine will increase your chances of creating more ab definition and a soon formed six pack.</p>
<p>Train each of your three ab days alternately. Do three sets of 10 repetitions on week one and on week two, change your six pack abs work out to four sets of eight repetitions. Variation is the key.</p>
<p>Getting those muscles to fatigue is the ultimate abs work out. Doing this, you are guaranteed a six pack that will be the envy of your friends.</p>

<p>Pregnancy Diet: Are You Getting Enough Calories?</p>
<p>The first thing you must understand is that pregnancy is not the time to be counting calories. If you are on a diet that involves severely restricting your caloric intake get off it. Right now. For the next nine months you have permission to not suffer for beauty. Not only is restricting calories not going to<span id="more-402"></span> result in weight loss (you&#8217;re going to gain some as the baby grows whether you like it or not) it could potentially harm your baby. </p>
<p>Not getting enough calories during pregnancy can lead to the baby not having what it needs to develop properly. Low birth weight is a common complication, as is poor fetal development. The baby may have any number of deficiency-associated birth defects. In short, it is vitally important that when you are pregnant you get enough to eat. You can burn it all off after the baby is born, although to be honest if you have time to worry about your weight you will be handling new motherhood much better than most!</p>
<p>The first thing you want to do is calculate your pre-pregnancy Recommended Daily Caloric Intake. If you are a health buff or have been living on a terminal diet you may already know this number. If you do not you can visit one of the following sites to figure it out, or consult with your physician.</p>

<p>(this site will also provide practical advice about estimating caloric intake for the rest of your pregnancy, although it doesn&#8217;t take into account weight gain or loss.)</p>
<p>For the first three months of your pregnancy you actually do not need to consume any extra calories. Your pre-pregnancy calorie consumption will be perfectly adequate for your baby&#8217;s growth and development as long as you are not dieting. If you are dieting, stop! This is the number of calories (roughly) that you want to eat in a day.</p>
<p>As you go into your second and third trimester you should increase your daily caloric intake by 300 calories. This will help to compensate for the increasing rate of your baby&#8217;s growth. If your pre-pregnancy caloric intake was 1800 calories you should consume 2100 calories a day. If it was 1400 calories you should consume 1700 calories, and so on and so forth. Again, this is not the time to try and lose weight. Do not omit these extra calories in favor of allowing your body to burn them instead. This is not healthy for you or your baby, and if you are breastfeeding you will quickly work these calories back off. </p>
<p>The number of calories you need during pregnancy is going to vary if you were not a healthy weight when you became pregnant. Women who were obese may be told to consume fewer calories to prevent excessive weight gain, which would place extra strain on the heart and lungs and increase the likelihood of blood pressure related problems during pregnancy. In this case this is a fine time to diet, as long as you are following your doctor&#8217;s advice. The healthier you are, the healthier your baby is going to be.</p>
<p>On the flip side of that coin, if you were underweight at the beginning of your pregnancy or have not gained what the doctor considers to be an adequate amount of weight since becoming pregnant you may be told to increase your caloric intake by more than 300. The baby needs to be able to take enough calories away from your body to grow, and if you don&#8217;t have any to spare either because you aren&#8217;t eating enough or your body is burning everything that you eat they are going to suffer.</p>
